About Me

I enjoy fishing and traveling, humanitarian efforts, writing, politics, and binging on good old fashioned classics! My greatest and most rewarding work has been that of change agent and domestic engineer.

My family is my muse; I have four children – my oldest son Gavin is 22, works at GNC and is an awesome writer, my daughter Clarissa is 20 and attending Weber State, she enjoys running and is the healthiest person I know.  My two youngest boys are 17 and 15; Samuel (17), aka Sam-I-am, born on Dr. Seuss’ birthday, March 2nd, and he does NOT like Green Eggs and Ham – and Jeremy is 15 turning sweet sixteen soon and already driving….a scooter!  I’ve been out-fished by all four of them but still enjoy the challenge!  I have been married almost 25 years and he is still my best person.  I graduated from the University of Utah in Human Development and Family Studies and Anthropology with the intent to apply to Law School.  In the interim I have worked as a substitute, and an Academic and Behavior Interventionist.  Prior to teaching Kindergarten I was doing Reading Intervention at Washington Elementary.  What I wanted to be when I grew up was always a Kindergarten Teacher….I got a little lost along the way...but I’m here now and enjoying the opportunity!  I still advise the Mortar Board Honor Society at the University of Utah as well as other community involvement.  I am committed to Washington Elementary and find my colleagues to be inspiring individuals constantly contributing to a greater community for each student at our school.  Teaching is amazing work, it is equally hard and rewarding, and I have a greater appreciation of all the teachers in mine and my children’s lives having experienced this role! Thank you for sending your children to us everyday; they are wonderful, curious, sensitive, thoughtful, inquisitive people–I am excited to be a Washington Star!
