Inquiry Challenges

We strive to promote lifelong learning through an environment of exploration where students and staff have access to multiple media resources.  Our goal is to engage all learners in reading, creating, and exploring the world of literacy and technology through quality instruction.  The library is open to students before and after school, as well as lunch and recess with your teacher’s permission.

Access to Books

Lynn Butler said, “Reading is a window to the world.”  It is a foundational skill for learning, personal growth, and enjoyment.  Washington would like to provide students and families with open access to the following reading resources (links are on the right):

Utah's Online Library

Utah’s Online Library is a fantastic resource for students doing research. It is the gateway to a broad range of information and databases, reference materials and tools. Please contact Mrs. Gleason for the login and password information for home access.

Follett Shelf

Follett eBooks for K-12 schools, classrooms, and libraries have everything you need to keep students engaged in literature.

World Book

World Book Online is an amazing site for the students in the Salt Lake City School District. Use it to help with class projects, science fair ideas, and more.

At Washington we believe that inquiry provides a framework  for learning.  Through research we teach students to think critically, draw conclusions, make informed decisions, and share their knowledge.  The links below will be used for research with classes throughout the course of the school year.

Hour of Code

We support equitable access to ideas and information throughout our school community.  Our library policies, procedures, and guidelines may be found here.
